Stabilization and development of human resources in agricultural information system in CEE territory

  1. About the event

  2. The US / Central and Eastern European Agricultural Library Roundtable have already been organized six times since 1991.

    All information on the history of the Roundtables you may find on Web site: http://www.nitranet.sk/iaald_roundtable.htm.

    The main goal of these roundtable events is to help the development of agricultural information systems and information specialists of CEE countries, as well as the development of the partnership relations between participating countries and organizing institutions, like FAO, IAALD and USAIN/NAL.

    The organizers will sponsor the participation of the representatives of CEE and Central Asian countries from former Soviet Union due to the economic problems of these countries.

    • Lodging
      The 7th Roundtable will held in the Czech and Slovak Centre of Commerce and Technics in Moscow, Krasnogo Mayaka street 19.

    • Funding
      The sponsored participants will be responsible for funding their transportation to Moscow, Russia and return, as well as costs of travel not related to the Roundtable agenda while in Russia.

      40 are sponsored participants.

      The remaining non-sponsored participants pay participation in the Roundtable in the following manner.

      Fees per person

      Registration fee $ 120
      Hotel accommodation with breakfasts and full board (coffee breaks, lunches) per day including reception $ 60
      No accommodation participation per day $ 20
      Participation in the Welcome Party $ 30
      Facultative Program $ 10

    • Visas

    • The presentation of your letter of invitation should enable you to obtain a visa from the Consulate of the Russian Federation, if necessary. If, however, you have any problems, please let us know.

    • Travel

    • The organizers recommend to use air and railway transportation as the most convenient and will provide a bus to take participants of the Roundtable to Chertanovo.

    • Registration

    • Registration of participants will be on Monday, May, 24, 1999

      Generally representatives to the Roundtable are agricultural library directors or information systems officers.

    • Paper presentation

    • Please bring 1 copy of your abstract and paper presentation, in English, in paper and electronic form in Word format.

      Each country will have approximately 15 minutes to make its presentation. We ask that each presentation address the following points:

      1. Current status of international cooperation of the countries taking part in the Roundtable- the fulfilling of the Joint Program of Cooperation.
      2. A description of the agricultural library and information infrastructure in your country.
      3. Mains problems of the stabilization and development of human resources in your agricultural information system.
      4. Changes in your library since Roundtable VI.
